How it all started?
Gary Sorbara- Who we call our “FOUNDING FATHER” of American Hairlines. Growing up in Pennsylvania he worked at his parent’s grocery store as a small boy. After getting the opportunity to work at his uncle’s barber shop, he put himself through barber school and achieved the first part of his dream. After, years of working at the shop, he went into the hair restoration business, shaving his then “full head of hair” to wear a “old school” toupee. You think that’s CRAZY?? We think it was GENIOUS. What better way to really experience and know his product, and what services his clients would require. American Hairlines was born. Starting as a small business, then traveling and expanding he had many plans for the future. Leaving Wexford and semi-retiring he moved to Naples. Opening a studio in Ft. Myers, he initiated his plans for his family’s future. His dream is happening as you read this. He loves his family, his staff and clients.
Carrying the Torch
Maria,Owner ~ The youngest of the Sorbara clan, she came to us originally from Wexford, PA. After attending Duquesne University, she came down to Naples, at the suggestion of her father, arriving at the airport in Ft. Myers a car picked her up and whisked her away to 12995 S. Cleveland Avenue, Suite 240, Maria had no idea that her planned 3 month stay would turn into 11 years. Meeting her husband Jamey, moving to Tampa, having two children, Jianna and Jamey, she ran the ordering department for all three family run studios. In 2010, her family relocated back to Naples. Returning to the Ft. Myers Studio, which is now the hub of Administrative Offices housing American Hairlines, Universal Hairworks Mentoring Academy and LCD Leaders in Consulting and Development, she is at the top of her game, taking us all in the right direction for a bright future…It was not just in the cards, it was in her blood!
Dean,Owner ~ “Deano” who is also known as the “poster man” for hair restoration. Second of our three Owners traveling the country creating an excitement for the Hair Restoration Industry. Dean was living in Pittsburgh, like his cousin Gary (who is more like a brother), and worked in the insurance industry. In 2000, Gary during a meeting with him at American Hairlines, discussing business ventures and getting a hair cut, Dean did not know, that soon his “full head of hair” would also be shaved. “You’ll have practice what you preach”, he was told. Well, after some shock and many years of his commitment to this business, he is now one of the most recognizable faces in the Hair Restoration Industry today. Branching out and becoming one of the Directors for Education, he successfully began training other studios about the “new era” of hair replacement. Practicing what he preaches, and teaching what he practices has made our business, and many others thrive. Consulting and business strategies are his main focus which lead him to creating LCD Leaders in Consulting and Development. You will see him in our commercials, with and without his hair!
Tony~ Keeping with the family heritage and following in his dad’s (Dean) footsteps, Tony came to us a new graduate of Penn State University in 2010. Tony has been traveling to our other facilities around the U.S. He was a vital link, helping our team in re-constructing the newest American Hairlines in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Based in Pittsburgh with his dad and cousin, he also helps with the day to day operations of that studio as well. You will be seeing more of him in the years to come, we are sure of that.
Chris, Owner – Being in the business for over 18 years, Chris is a seasoned owner. He helped kick-off the education program for technical training for salons across the country. Voted by our staff, Mr. “Love Him or Leave Him” is the third studio Owner. Residing in New York with his wife and two daughters, he runs the studio The Ultimate Touch. He, like Dean, is also a “poster boy” for the Hair Restoration Industry and travels the country, consulting other studios. Chris like Maria and Dean, plays a major role in the development of LCD Leaders in Consulting and Development. He also is the person to seek out for the LCD Software, available for all salons. We kid him a lot about his commercial antics, but he is a vital team member of American Hairlines family.
